Vancouver - First Impressions

After our belated Valentines/Megan's Birthday, break in bermuda we finally made it to Vancouver! This is going to be our home for the 10 months, good job it's voted number 1 city to live in the world...let's see if it stands up to it's reputation!

The population here I feel is like 80% asian, and by asian I mean Japanese, Chinese etc It's great! Millions of the restaurants here are asian cuisine which suits us down to the ground!!

The weather so far is very crispy cold, there's always an icey-chill in the air this time of year but we're told that Vancouver does actually have a great summer, which makes a difference from year round winter in England!

It's amazing to be looking down a city street and at the end seeing huge lakes, mountains and forests...quality.

A taste of things to come. Our first meal in Vancouver is at Coco's Noodle house, chinese/thai!

Kev, this is a huge comic book shop with first and special editions at the back. You'd love it!

Yo Bob! Looks like you've already set up shop here. Good luck!

Sunset beach, though not much of a sunset...or a beach, but a nice place anyhow.

A chilly day at sunset beach.

English Bay 360.

On our way to Granville Island.

Granville bridge.

The 30sec $5 journey by ferry to Granville Island.

My plates, my car, those are the rules, aren't they?

A nice resting spot near granville market.

A better view of the market.

Burrard St Bridge, English Bay, Me and Megan.

Take 2.

Take 3, cue nice sky.

Canadian McDonalds, not American, Canadian!

It's definitely cold enough for one of these. Think I might get this one.

Hostel kitchen. Many a microwaved noodle meal made here.

Corner of Nelson and Granville features yet another irish pub.

Coming back into downtown Vancouver via skytrain.

Downtown Vancouver at sunset.

View from our first private hostel room. Rumour has it, it's the biggest bed in the place!

Some nice sirloin burgers from A&W, a common fast food joint here in Vancouver. Don't try the root beer, unless you like germolene through a straw.

Cool record shop.

"City of Vancouver" Yeah :)

Go canucks! Famous local ice hockey team.

Some downtown culture on a back alley wall.

2 chilli dogs with cheese please!

The chilli dog in action.

Looking down Granville Street.

Another cool music shop.

Custom t-shirt prints, right up my street.

Movie theatre from the movies. They always look like this in films.

Walk/Do not walk on Granville.

Internet everywhere.

Rollin' Hard.

All the peep you want, 25c.

A walk to our hostel on Granville.

Gotta make that call.

Our first home in Vancouver.

One of many views at the end of one of the streets.

A look back at the harbour at the bottom of Cambie Street.

Entering chinatown.

Channel M in Vancouver, Channel M in Manchester, almost identical logos, something fishy is going on.

Looking out from a glass bridge in a shopping mall, left.

And right.

The Vancouverites!
